    This bill was brought due to numerous complaints about in-state movers. In working with the movers’ trade group, I learned that two-thirds of the complaints arise out of only three moving companies. The trade group would also like to strengthen the laws governing in-state moves; we have agreed on several key principles and will work together to bring back a stronger bill next year.

    The Uniform Trust Code is a result of many years of work to bring state trust codes up to date. The bill now establishes an interim committee to iron out various interest group differences so we can make sure Colorado's trust code is up to date.

    This is an important reform of how consumer credit companies do business that has support from the old-fashioned and effective Consumer Credit Counseling organizations, as well as creditors, such as bankers, credit unions and other credit companies. The bill requires that companies that take a consumer's money in order to help them pay debt must actually help get that debt paid. It also limits fees and payments to these companies.

    a.k.a., the Jerry McGuire Bill, this bill brings consistency to Colorado law governing the agents of professional athletes. Based on a national model, the Uniform Athlete Agents Act protects Colorado athletes from unscrupulous agents and protects universities from NCAA sanctions because the university didn't know an athlete had signed a contract.
